What to Expect

Depending on the diagnosis or treatment area each visit averages around 10-15 minutes. At the time of the treatment a gel is applied to the surface of the area. The StemWave applicator is applied to the treatment area delivering focused waves. This treatment is non-invasive and does not require anesthesia or numbing creams.

A care plan is 10 sessions. Patients typically experience significant improvement after 3-4 treatments, however, we often see a noticeable improvement after the first treatment. Subsequent treatments that follow will offer continual improvement and sustained results.

Will my StemWave treatment be covered by insurance?

Treatments with the Stemwave machine are not billable by insurance yet because it is a new technology in the United States. However, treatments are cleared by the FDA and this technology has been used and demonstrated great results for many years in Europe.

How many sessions will I need and how often will I come in?

A treatment package is 10 sessions. Scheduling recommendations are two times per week for 2 weeks, then weekly for the following 4-6 weeks. The last two sessions may be completed 2 weeks apart depending on the condition being treated, and your progress. It is important that you start when the timing works for you to complete the entire series without interruption.

I have multiple areas of my body that give me pain. How many areas can I treat with StemWave ?

The initial treatment package focuses on one area of the body. If you would benefit from receiving treatment in another body region, subsequent treatment packages are offered at a discounted price. We treat no more than 3 regions at a time as your body will be spending its resources healing those regions.

Is it going to hurt?

There will possibly be slight pain and discomfort but nothing unbearable. You can go about your day after the treatment.

How is the StemWave treatment done?

This is non-invasive and is delivered in under 30 minutes. During treatment, you will either sit or lie on a bed and the therapist will put ultrasound gel over the injured area before running the device on it. While the therapy is being delivered, you will experience slight pain or discomfort but nothing unbearable. Afterward, you are free to leave and go about your day though it is recommended to avoid anything strenuous for 48 hours.

Will I need more sessions after my initial 10 visit package?

It depends on the nature of your condition. People with severe osteoarthritis conditions will probably need intermittent StemWave treatments to maintain their levels of activity, and keep their pain level down. This will be discussed with you at your first consultation.
