The Upledger Institute

The Upledger Institute is recognized worldwide for its education programs. Dr. John E. Upledger was a professor of Biomechanics at the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Michigan State University from 1975-1983. He led a team of anatomists, biophysicists, bioengineers, and physiologists who performed and published the clinical research that became the basis for Craniosacral Therapy. Dr. Upledger founded the institute in 1985 to teach people about the value of the Craniosacral approach. Today the institute has more than 90,000 alumni.

The Jones Institute

The Jones Institute is the offers post-graduate Strain Counterstrain seminars for healthcare professionals throughout the United States as well as internationally. Dr. Lawrence Jones, D.O., F.A.A.O. and Randall Kusunose, P.T., O.C.S. established the Jones Institute in 1988, but Dr. Jones developed the Strain Counterstrain approach for the treatment of neuromuscular and musculo-skeletal disorders in the 1950's.

Bruno Chikly, MD, DO(hon.)

Bruno Chikly, M.D., D.O.(hon.), is a graduate of the Medical School at Saint Antoine Hospital in France, with training in endocrinology, surgery, neurology and psychiatry. Dr. Chikly also earned the United States equivalent of a master's degree in psychology from Paris XIII University. He co-created a school of Manual Lymphatic Therapy in Europe, which resulted in the creation of the Lymph Drainage Therapy curriculum in the United States. Dr. Chikly's curriculum is taught through the Upledger Institute.

The Barral Institute & Jean Pierre Barral, DO, RPT

The Barral Institute is a health education, training and research organization dedicated to the advancement of Visceral Manipulation, Nerve Manipulation and related Manual Therapies. The Institute conducts workshops nationally and internationally to educate and train healthcare practitioners about the existence and therapeutic value of these modalities.

Jean Pierre Barral, DO, RPT graduated from the European School of Osteopathy in Maidstone, England. He became interested in visceral manipulation as a student and it quickly became a focus of his work during the past fifteen years. He is a well-respected practitioner and teacher in Europe, and has contributed to numerous textbooks on osteopathy. Dr. Barral has taught widely in Europe, North America, and Japan. He started the Barral Institute in 2006. Prior to 2006, seminars were managed by the Upledger Institute.

John F. Barnes, PT

John F. Barnes, PT is an internationally recognized authority on Myofascial Release. He has nearly 50 years of experience and has developed an innovative and effective, whole-body approach for the evaluation and treatment of pain and dysfunction.

Alain Gehin, Doctor of Etiopathy

Alain Gehin is a Doctor of Etiopathy, which is a system of manipulative medicine. He has a private practice in Metz, France. Dr. Gehin found that cranial manipulation is practiced throughout the world and has integrated techniques from the medical traditions of Asia, Europe, Oceania, and the United States. He lectures at workshops in Europe and the United States. Dr. Gehin has also been a professor at the European College of Etiopathy in Geneva, Switzerland, since 1976, where he teaches cranial and craniosacral therapy.

The Ursa Foundation

The Ursa Foundation was founded in 1976 by Dr. Loren H. "Bear" Rex, D.O. and is a non-profit providing continuing professional education to health care professionals. Ursa courses are clinically oriented and scientifically based. They emphasize a "hands-on approach."

Dr. Rex is nationally and internationally recognized for his contributions to manual medicine through his lectures and course presentations on manual techniques.

Ron Murray, CAR, D.O.M.P. (can)

Ron Murray provides specialized training in the United States and Canada for Rolfers, massage practitioners, physical therapists, chiropractors, and other health practitioners.
