Qigong (Chee-gong) is an ancient Chinese health care system dating back over 4000 years that has been used by millions of people. It integrates physical postures, breathing techniques, and focused intention. It is similar to Tai Chi, a practice many Westerners are already familiar with.

The name literally means “Life Energy Cultivation”. “Qi” means life force energy and “gong” means cultivation or mastery, so Qigong is the work of cultivating life force (healing) energy within the body.

Qigong doesn’t look like much from the outside, but the effects are powerful on the inside. It helps maintain health by working on all levels: physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. It breaks the vicious cycle of stress, increases your energy levels, clears and strengthens your mind, and keeps you mobile. Most importantly, it keeps you in balance on every level. Regular practice increases maximum benefits. 

Qigong is very safe, and  is practiced by everyone from children to the elderly. All the movements are gentle and designed to feel like second nature, even to beginners.  In the beginning, it’s about learning to feel energetic systems (chi) within our bodies and to use intention to manipulate it with compression, expansion, breath, and imagination.
