Indications of Lymph Drainage Therapy (LDT)

LDT is widely used to treat lymphedema.

Lymphedema is caused by impaired  lymphatic flow.  Protein rich fluid accumulates in the extracellular space (Space between cells and due to trauma ( surgical or non surgical) or restrictions in fascia.

Here are 2 major types of lymphedema:

- Primary lymphedema (congenital origin)

- Abnormalities in the lymphatic system that are present at birth, however, condition often diagnosis later in life.)

- Secondary lymphedema (anatomical obliteration)

- Surgery, etc

- Radiation therapy

- Cancer

- Infection, etc

- Burns

- Chronic venous condition

- Medication, etc

Lymphatic Drainage Therapy could be use in various medical setting. Indication may include:

-Dentistry, Orthodontics: tooth pain, root canal, and gum disease, etc

-Dermatology: Acne, eczema, dermatitis, etc

-Esthetic: Wrinkles, “bag” under eyes, Breast ptosis, etc

-Gastroenterology and Hepatology: Constipation, IBS, celiac disease, food poisoning, etc

-Metabolic: Stress, fatigue, chronic pain, etc

-Gerontology: Memory loss for elderly people

-Gynecology: Painful hemorrhagic menstrual, swollen legs, infertility, etc

-Infectious disease: Chronic pharyngitis, tonsillitis, sinusitis, etc

-Neurology: Headaches, Migraines, stroke, Multiple sclerosis (MS), etc

-Ophthalmology: Visual acuity, Cataracts, edema of eyelids, etc

-Orthopedics: Trauma, hematoma, fracture, etc

-Osteopathic/Chiropractic: Neck pain, whiplash, lower back pain, sciatica, etc

-Otorhinolaryngology (ear-nose-throat): Vertigo, hearing loss, etc

-Pneumology, Allergology: Chronic bronchitis, asthma, Emphysema, etc

-Rheumatology: Arthrosis, Rheumatoid arthritis, Fibromyalgia syndrome, etc

-Sports: Improve muscle condition before and after sporting event

-Surgery: Pre/Post surgery, amputation, burns, etc

-Urology, Nephrology: Bladder and kidney problems
